Navigation Information Service

A public communications service operated by the US Coast Guard's Navigation Center in Alexandra, VA. They offer latest information on such things as GPS, differential GPS, Loran, Omega, and matters of radio communication as well as providing latest editions (up to 30 days old) of the Local Notices to Mariners for all districts.

Ther service is frequently abbreviated NIS.
