pileus

An accessory cloud of small horizontal extent, often cirriform, in the form of a cap, hood, or scarf, which occurs above or attached to the top of a cumuliform cloud that often pierces it. Several pileus clouds are often seen above each other. Pileus occurs principley with cumulus and cumulonimbus. Also called cap cloud or scarf cloud.

These clouds look like mountain wave clouds but are on the peaks of cumulus rather than on mountains.
