prognosis A forecast or forecast map showing positions of pressure systems, fronts, fog, sea state, etc. Sometimes nicknamed "progs." The term "forecast" is probably used more often by mariners to refer to this product. See text samples under weather report. See RES-1 on reading weather maps.
