| frequency The rate of repetition of cycles a radar is transmitting at, in megahertz (Mhz), 1 Mhz = 1,000,000 cycles per second. Radars transmit in the microwave spectrum. X-band radars transmit at 9500 MHz and are used mostly for inland/coastal situations by larger vessels, generally the only radar carried by smaller vessels. S-band radars transmit at 3000 Mhz and are used mostly in open ocean by larger vessels. In the simulators, "frequency" refers to the time interval of the Plot function. See Plot. |
