arc to time table A table in the Nautical Almanac and elsewhere that converts any longitude to time equivalent based on the rate that the earth turns on its axis, 360º in 24 hr, which is the same as 15º of Lon per hour, or 15' per 1 minute, or 1º = 4 min or 1' = 4 sec. The table does this directly, but we could do it by hand: ie 128º 35' = 128 x 4 min + 35 x 4 sec = 512m 140s = 514m 20s = 8h 34m 20s With the table you look this up and it is done in two steps. 128º = 8h 32m and 35' = 2m 20s so answer is 8h 34m 20s
