parallel indexing

A radar piloting technique using north-up display mode in which you draw on the radar screen—or on a transparency to be held on the radar screen—the path you expect a prominent isolated radar target to follow as you proceed along your chosen route. As long as the indexing target remains on the index path, you know you are in the right position.
