anemometer

An instrument for measuring the speed of the wind. Some instruments also indicate the direction from which it is blowing. An electronic anemometer is basically a simple device, requiring no external power. Accurate models can be fabricated by rigging plastic cups to run an electric toy motor backwards. A milliamp-meter can read the output current which will be proportional to the wind speed.
