| DR Position Your position (DR-Lat, DR-Lon) according to dead reckoning. If your records show that since the last fix you sailed 10 miles on course 180 T, and then turned and sailed 25 miles on course 270 T, then your present DR position is 10 miles south and 25 miles west of the last fix. By plotting this out on the chart, you can read off the DR-Lat and DR-Lon of this position that is needed for any purpose. Note that if you do know your leeway or any currents present, then that info should be folded into your reckoning for the best DR position. In short, we consider the "DR position" to be our best guess of our position at the time, taking into account every thing we know about the navigation.
